This Specific Journal is Dedicated to the Mental, Physical, and Emotional Well-being of Black Men.

Written in a call and response style, this journal touches on many topics unique to the Black experience. Asking questions to invoke deep reflective thoughts on the color of our black skin, to our childhood experiences, our black fathers, our moments of gratitude, our goals, and so much more.

Oftentimes Black men in our society don’t feel safe to express their thoughts, don’t feel heard, or sometimes have trouble articulating their thoughts and emotions due to the burdens they carry. This journal seeks to begin the process of exploring their emotions and thoughts, gaining insight on their past, and setting clarity for their futures. To quote Professor Joshua Smyth, an esteemed Penn State biobehavioral health and medicine professor, “Journaling is a tool to put our experiences, thoughts, beliefs, and desires into language, and in doing so it helps us understand and grow and make sense of them.”

About the Author

Alisha Honoré is an Entrepreneur, Writer, Actor, and Law Student at Florida International University College of Law.

She has a strong love and belief in the value of journaling. In conducting a survey of many successful Black men, she learned often they do not feel safe to articulate their emotions or thoughts. Sometimes Black men do not feel comfortable expressing themselves, nor take the time to deeply reflect on what is driving their emotions and behaviors. This sometimes results in poor communication with others and lack of personal awareness. This inspired Alisha to create the  Inner Thoughts of a Black Man Journal as a vehicle for Black men to express their inner thoughts onto paper, explore deep rooted beliefs, and introspectively reflect on their lives through writing. Ultimately, she hopes this journal brings joy, healing, and love to all those who embark on the journey.
