Joe DiPaola was first elected to Richmond Hill Council in 1997, and over the past 24 years has been an energizing force in leading many council driven initiatives, and supporting many charitable and social service organizations.

As Acting Mayor he is a member of Toronto Region Conservation Authority and York Region Transit Boards, Oak Ridges Library Board Vice Chair and Chair of the York Region Planning Advisory Committee. He also serves on the York Housing Inc. Task Group, and a number of city committees.

A passionate advocate for community service Mr. DiPaola provides his support to the Canadian Spinal Research Foundation, Sick Kids Hospital, Lake Simcoe Conservation Authority, and annual charitable fundraising events for Mackenzie Health, Hill House Hospice, 360 Kids, Food Bank of York Region and  Abuse Hurts amongst many others

Since his tenure as Acting Mayor, the Yonge Subway extension has received federal funding and approval, Amazon confirmed its location in Richmond Hill and are now constructing, the Richmond Hill Centre Plan and new Official Plan have been fast tracked , the Bloomington GO opened to serve Oak Ridges residents, Mill Pond was placed in the Provincial Green Belt and the city has received numerous awards from the World City on City Data and designation as a Tree City of the World from the Arbor Day Foundation.

Joe DiPaola holds an inspirational vision for the City of Richmond Hill as the future centrepiece for the GTA. He is uniquely qualified to continue bringing this exciting vision to life as the Mayor of Richmond Hill.
