Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT):

Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT):

an action-oriented approach to psychotherapy that encourages stopping the avoidance, denial, and struggle withinner emotions and, instead, encourages acceptance that these deeper feelings are appropriate responses to certain situations.

Motivational Interviewing:

is a guiding style of communication that sits between following and directing to empower people to change by drawing out their own meaning, importance and capacity for change that is based on a respectful and curious way of being with people that facilitates the natural process of change and honors client autonomy. Useful with any form of behavior change

Mindfulness Meditation:

mediation practice designed to reduce stress and encourage a calmer, healthier life. Used to treat anxiety and stress disorders

About

Ms. Colvin is a seasoned psychotherapist with 15 years of experience. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) for the state of Missouri and a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker for the states of Alabama and Tennessee. Ms. Colvin received her dual Master’s of Social Work and Public Health degrees in 2010 from Saint Louis University in St. Louis, Missouri. She is trained in Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing, and Mindfulness Meditation. She specializes in anxiety disorders, depression, emotional dysregulation, trauma, and spiritual conflict.

Ms. Colvin believes that we are all spiritual beings living in a natural world and not every experience requires a diagnosis. Each part of our being (Mind, Body, & Spirit) needs to be in divine order to become our best selves. Her approach is strength based, person centered, comfort driven, and hope focused. Thus your treatment will be tailored to fit your therapeutic needs.

When she is not releasing the world from the woos of life, she enjoys dancing (up a storm), listening to music, painting, baking, and traveling. “I haven’t been everywhere, but it’s on my list.”
